1980 KZ650 EV project
25 May 2008 22:15
I recently picked up a $50 Craigslist special. I am planning on swapping out the stock gasser drivetrain for a DC motor and a few marine batteries. Should be an interesting ride.

if u are referring to running an electric motor, why for the love of god would u do this?
Sorry, now that I'me calmed down again and think about it, gas is pretty expensive and if u need me to take that 650 motor off your hands i would be more than happyB)

I am more than happy to sell the engine/transmission to help fund the EV conversion. I might also trade them for other KZ bits; seat, tank, etc. I'll post some pics to give an idea what I need.
I ride an EX 250 Ninja daily, so fuel costs are managed well already. I thought about the conversion and decided on an older standard for the larger chassis space and availability of parts.

I was told the wrong year, it is a '77. If anyone in Central Texas wants the drivetrain, I'll offer it up to the KZ riders first...

Any idea what I should ask for a 77 engine and transmission, minus the carbs and exhaust? Looks to be complete otherwise.
