1976 kz750
04 May 2008 16:45
Hi Fellow KZers!
I am a new member, and a new Kz owner. I bought a 1976 kz750 twin last week. It is a great bike, but has a few issues. I am experiencing some pull to the right (in the rear end) when I apply the rear brake. Not sure if it is because I'm not used to the rear disc brake system, or if I have a problem. I also am going to need a center stand if anyone has one for sale. I have also found out that the gasket set is no longer available from Z-1, and I may need a head gasket as it seems to be blowing a little oil. Maybe an oil change to a thicker newer oil might help. I'm just getting to know my bike, it's a rocket compared to my Twinstar!!:woohoo: Thanks for any imput and/or advice,
be safe!

Looks cool, buddy!
The pull in the rear is something I've felt in the past, and it was due to the axle bolt not being tight enough. It literally was moving... the adjusters cannot be trusted to hold the sides in balance alone...

Welcome Jonny! As for the gasket set, you may have to become very familiar with eBay...it will appear there as folks clear their old stock. Many of us on this site use eBay to acquire all those bits that aren't available through retailers (like Jeff @ Z1Enterprises)...in fact, many of us bump into each other on eBay:) That is unfortunate re the gasket set...I was entertaining the notion of acquiring a KZ750T but maybe I won't, if the gaskets are not there:huh:
You also may want to double check on the year of your bike...I don't believe that the rear disc brake wasn't available until the 1977 year model.

But there it is in the photo; rear disk and spokes with a pre-77 tail....
Welcome welcome!!
I too have the rear end drift, and believe that mine is a combination of play in the swingarm bushings, and skidding (I tend to use too much rear brake, I suck ha ha).
Now I will check Biquetoast's loose axle tip and perhaps add it to the list of dysfunction...

76-79 KZ750B had front single disk and rear disk brakes, 1980 KZ750G had front single disk and rear drum brake.
I used a 1980 750G swingarm, wheel, and brake pedal on my 79 750B until I mounted the NOS Morris mags on it.

Hey Johny, Welcome to KZR, There is a ton of info on kz750B models so you should be able to get all your problems sorted out. Good luck!

Now that I look at it again, I must say that *if* that's a '76, it's got some '78 or '79 parts... like the fronta caliper mounted behind the fork, the non-round front master cylinder...

Welcome, Johny.
Lookin' good on your 750. As for the play, as mentioned, I was thinking of the swingarm bushings and the axle bolt is another good possibility.
Enjoy!
