Hello from Michigan

I picked up a 1978 KZ200 last week and have been looking though forums for info on this bike. From the very small amount of info i can find i would say it must be quite rare.

Bike is in awesome shape. Was owened by a packrat and when he passed away (after removing all the boxes and trash from his living room) they found this bike in the corner.
The family said it could have been in there for 20+ years.

Well anyhow...How many of these are on the forum?

First of all welcome to the forum. There are not a ton of KZ200 owners here. Your bike was not a huge seller when it was new, at least not here in the US. It is a solid little bike and that basic engine was used in 3 wheelers/dirt bikes/ATV's and street bikes as well. It is the type of bike that was more suited to the third world market than it was to the US. How many miles are showing on your bike?

Your description of the PO made me laugh. Reads like my eulogy probably will in a few years.:laugh:

Back when your bike was new Kawasaki had a distributor that was headquartered in Grand Rapids, Kawasaki Midwest, IIRC it was on 36th st. I went there to Kawasaki service school several times.

I was at the distributor in GR back in the day too!

I live pretty close to you, i live in Holland. Once i get my bike going(couple of weeks!!) maybe we could go for a ride

Welcome aboard! There was a guy in St. Ignace, MI who had a little bike,atv, and snowmobile salvage yard going in his back yard. he had 2 of those little buggers, back there both were blue, and in great looking shape.

If you need any parts I will see if he still has them sitting there.
