Hello to all from Cleveland, Ohio ('81 KZ1000?)
15 Apr 2008 15:57 - 15 Apr 2008 16:56
Hey everyone!!
New to the site but not to motorcycles and by no means an expert. I've just always had a love for them no matter what kind and I've always had a soft spot for KZ's. I found one that is local to me that's selling fairly cheap (although it's kinda rough).
The info I have on the bike is limited but I did get the frame and engine numbers.....they are JKAKZCM16BA004239 and KZT00UE016218 . From the info I've gotten from the model history section of this site, this bike is a 1981 KZ1000 CSR....? The only thing that doesn't look right is the "U" that's in bold print. The model history shows that should be a "J"....? I might have misread that but am almost positive it was a "U". Have I ID'd it correctly? Is there anything that I need to be aware of on these bikes? What makes a CSR different from a LTD or a standard?
Thanks for your help!!

Welcome aboard!
At the time the CSR models were billed as a slightly cheaper version of the Ltd with wire spoke wheels and a bit less chrome perhaps. I can't help you on the engine number, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can.

Thanks Nate!!
I did a little more looking around here and did find what you said to be true.....laced wheels and the lack of "flash". After doing a little reading, I'm sure he's asking way too much for the bike as it needs completely gone over and just about everything worked......I'll have to give it some thought.
I'll wait for more info on the numbers too.
Thanks again.

Hello lux hauler...the 'U' is a supposed to be a 'J' and except for that 'typo' the bikes VIN's say CSR model or KZ1000M1. If you ever need to check an older Kawasaki VIN, try
www.zedder.com
and click on 'bike info':)

I made the seller an offer but he declined. I'll keep looking though.
