Hello from Oxfordshire, England. I see some familiar names from the Z1GB board here.

Just dropping a line to say hello. Recently bought a California imported KZ1000-M1 off Ebay and figured this would be a good place to get useful info and swap / sell / buy various parts.

Had a Z1000-H (fuel injection) for about fifteen years until I swapped it for a kit car. If anyone here ended up with it I'd be happy to give the info on all the work I'd done on the engine. KBW 357W

Bought a ZRX 1100 and tooled around on that for five years before trading it in for a GSX1400. Then traded the Suzuki in for a 1050 Speed Triple (still have that). Always missed the old Zed though and kept a hopeful eye out for an old school Kawa on Ebay. An almost mint CSR with 16 thou came up few weeks back and next thing I know I'm tootling along remembering just how badly these things handle until you've done some mods on them.

But I'm happy. After years of bikes that require an hour of panel and fairing removal before you can change a spark plug the Kwak is a breath of fresh air. Easy to work on and fun to mod.

The bike is currently absolutely bog standard but it's never going to be a classic so I've absolutely no qualms about pulling off all the standard stuff and going to town with mods.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum. That is a very nice find you have there. It seems odd that you are the second guy from the UK in the last week to find this forum with a 1000 CSR. Looks like you may need to add some air to your front forks though. Your bike looks pretty classic as it sits, someone has taken good care of that bike over the years. I just looked at one a week or so back but it was too far gone for me to want to mess with.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Yes the previous owner did a pretty good job of looking after it. He stuck some air in the forks for me prior to collecting - the picture is one he took for his Ebay advert. Well spotted on that though.

I too was surprised that the other guy from Oxford also had a CSR - they're rarer than hen's teeth over here so for another one to be a mere ten miles down the road from me is a pretty big coincidence. We're both on the Z1 GB board. I guess we both had the same thought that signing up on an American board would be a smart move for a US import owner.

I don't suppose anyone would know if there is still a replica seat available for this model? I've bought two genuine seats on ebay - after the owners swore they were rust and crack free and had them shipped over. And of course they were both buggered! I had hoped there might still be after market seats available. Seems to be loads for the more traditional Z1000s and 900s but not so for the later CSR / LTD

Welcome aboard, DarkSkies.

That's a great looking 1000 CSR. As for the seat it appears to be a stocker. Am I wrong?

Thanks. Yes, the seat is bog standard. A lot of folk think it's too big and floomfy but it's a welcome relief after riding the thin strip of foam on my Triumph!

I've been casting around for a repro or a decent K1 LTD so's I can retain the comfort factor.

DarkSkies...the K and M model seats are pretty much the same (as you are aware)...I am not aware of a replacement aftermarket seat (I have been wrong before, though:) )...and as ugly as it sounds, eBay may still be your best bet for another seat. As you are probably also aware, people often don't know what they are selling so widen your search net...for example, I picked up a really inexpensive J model seat that was listed as a K model.

And I'd love to have an H model...we got the G model instead...and they don't sell the GSX1400 on this side of the Atlantic...you folks get many nice bikes we don't see:(

Hello DarkSkies
Welcome to the forum- nice to have another UK member to chat with.
I live in Brighton, UK but I originate from Northants and know parts of Oxon- Banbury area.
Ihave a K model 1000 Ltd and a G1 Classic and would be interested to share your experiences of the EFI. I had a seat for a KZ750 ltd refurbed by a guy in South Wales if you are interested- excellent job and not too expensive although he took a fair while doing it. I am going to post a picture of my newly "modded" K1 prety soon, not too far from stock but is looking very cool- lets see the opinions of others on the site when it is revealed.
I may also have some parts that fit the CSR- I have definitely have some nice side panel emblems knocking about somewhere.
