New to me and cosmetically challenged
28 Mar 2008 13:37
Greetings all,
After 20 or so years away from riding, for some reason last year, I needed to get back into it. I wasn't looking for anything special, maybe something to work on, but not a corner chewer and not an overweight twin.
Well lo and behold I ended up with this gem. Not really realizing what I had, I loaded it on the truck and brought it home. She wouldn't fire, but the more I looked at her the more she got to me. And then I found this site, and then I fell under this darn KZ voodoo thing and well, here we are.
First off I'd like to say that I am in no way responsible for the appearance of this motorcycle. To me anyway, she's not easy on the eyes. In case you're wondering that's blue powder coat, thats right powder coat, on the tank, all bodywork, the valve cover, the wheels and of course lets not forget the calipers. She was nicely done though, the blue fleck was a nice touch and the ghosted flames on the tank were catchy.
She's got the a standard Dyna, pods and Kerker tweaks. Not being a master wrencher I sent her to someone who was (RIP Larry) and she came back just nasty. Engine starts and runs smooth, plenty of snap and over all a blast to ride. She's laid down on me a few times (fuses and such) and I've ran her out of gas once or twice, but we're starting to see eye to eye.
Anyway, glad to be here and looking forward to getting up to speed!
Shawn

Yes, welcome.
Doesn't look bad to me, but blue is my favorite color.
Have a blast with her.

Funny you should mention that Locozuna. I've had the 750 for over a year and am just getting started with her make over. She'll be a gem someday, so why then do I want more?
Just last week I found myself with a pocket full of $$$, standing over a cherry '77 650b and trying to persuade the owner to let me take it home. I was a day late and a $$ short so she stayed there, but boy did I walked away bummed! My wife told me to grow up and stop acting like a five year old. She just doesn't understand . . .

Well it could be pink with crazy graphics all over. The blue looks nice but I think the mags could use a strippin to paint either black or leave blue and sand and polish back where the bare aluminum should be. I am looking forward to my baby. 79 kz she needs a good powdercoating and paint and rebuild.
