Hey everybody, I'm Jon.

Bought a 78 KZ650 about 2 months ago, and I know eventually I will need questions answered about it, so what better place than here??

Referred by Kawasakiman, a fellow Rochester KZ rider.

Hopefully, with some advice from you guys, and a little help from some friends, I can get this gorgeous bike working and road-legal before next season.

Snapped a couple crappy cell phn pics

Welcome. Nice lookin' bike. Looks like all you need to make it street legal are mirrors, taillight, and rear blinkers. All are available on ebay.

Welcome Monochrome, you have to explain your name.

I'm another Rochesterian., hoping for a decent riding season, the last two have totally sucked due to illness and mechanical issues.

TJ-Thanks, it also needs carbs, but you can't tell from these photos...It also needs a title, which may be enough to keep it off the road this year :( Hopefully, a deal in the works will help me out.

George-Name was concepted when I told my parents that I had crushes on 2 girls at my high-school, one was black, and the other was Puerto-Rican, in a predominantly white school(the female preference is still alive and well, I assure you) My dad said that he was glad I didn't have a "Monochromatic" view of the world. 83 is the year I was born.

I am also from the greater Rochester area... there needs to be an upstate NY ride or something. I was in the finial stages of getting my project 650 on the road again when money ran out.

Right now I am working in Korea, so not much use except for moral support. My project is also lacking in the title area...

I tried buying a titled frame from Canada. but the boarder patrol wieners would not give me the paperwork to "import a vehicle" for just the frame. The DMV can't process a Canadian transferable registration without that paper work...

So now I am going to try and use "International Title Service" I have heard good and bad things about them, but i can not find any other folks who can get me a title for my bike.

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.

Regarding the title, if your current plan fails, go to your local Books-a-Million/Barnes&Noble/Borders/whatever, and in the magazine section you'll find Hemmings Motor News. In there will be several ads for companies that will help you get a title. For a price, of course. Good luck!

Wow, glad to see such support for these bikes from my area.

Steve-- Thanks for finally getting my fat ass on this site, I know there's a wealth of info that I wouldn't have anyone else to ask. And to answer your question.....Soon. lol

Hardr0ck--Military or other?? Come home safe and we'll have to cruise at some point for sure.

TJ--That may be the way to go if all else fails. It seems like I have some good people in my corner, but this may certainly be a much less labor-intensive option.

Let me know how the title service work. I had to do that for my Kz400, back in 2004, I think it was International Titles Services, and it worked fine.

Next up is a 76 CB550, with no tile. Once I get the Kz running perfect I'll start on that.
