Hello.
02 Dec 2007 01:36
Ok,
This is a new deal posting to the KZR, I have heard it is the "place".
I have been riding for thirty years. Owned about 5 KZ's including an Eddie Lawson replica.
Currently own a Ducati S4R, an XR 600, and the project 1975 KZ 900.
The project, has been delayed twice, once due to a tour in a far away place in the middle East, and a second time for an interstate move.
I am a machinist, so i don't do well with Half information. Hoping all the experts here can help me with a few small deatials left on the KZ.
The bike is half GSXR, half ZRX. I want to bring that KZ feeling and look into modern suspension, and brakes.
Thanks.

I had my KZ only a week or so when the guys at z1enerprises.com (great for sleuthing that part made of unobtainium) turned me on to kzrider. (Actually, I couldn't find the site for a while because I thought he had said "kzrodder" and I was mis-googling.)
Once I got onto this site, I quickly discovered that it's a great resource that's followed by several knowledgeable guys who are quick to post their knowledge and expertise.
You're right: This is THE place.

Welcome to the site and we need more pics and info. I think there are a handfull of members doing the modern suspension upgrade this winter. It's nice having a machinist on here that is doing the swap so we can steal your info and make our lives easier!

Welcome tk11b40! If half the bike is ZRX, and the other half is GSXR, then the third half must be KZ?

Welcome!
Very nice looking bike. Got a bigger pic?
Since you asked for the tiniest details.... if your bike is a '75, it's not a KZ900, but a Z1-B900.
Lots of 900 riders here, but from your pic, you don't need much help!

Ah I see that is the kind of detail i am looking for.
Bigger pictures are possible. Ok it's 25% zrx 25%GSXR' 35% KZ 15% "other".
I spent many hours polishing the engine (fins and all).
It's had two GSXR front ends. The 89 750 GSXR forks were an inch and a quarter shorter. The pipe had about 4 inches of clearance. I finally found a set of 93 GSXR 1100 forks. They are longer than the 750 forks due to the clip ons being mounted on top of the GSXR top clamp or "Tree".
The ZRX swing arm was a little trick to get in correctly, but I had lots of help. it took about ten hours of cypherin and machining jigs and bushings so when we welded in the frame bushings, they were true to the frame.
I am currently getting the rear rotor turned down to the dimensions of a crf 450 rear rotor. I have brand new caliper and master cyllinder from the CRF, it's so cool. small weighd nothing.
I am pleased with all the response to the bike. After a couple years you kinda wear down on a project. All the good comments help.
Thanks

I think the one thing that your bike really needs is about 50 detailed, large pictures posted up here so that we (...well, at least I) can geek on 'em. That'd do it.
