I am a long time Kaw fan. My first big 4-stroke was a '76 KZ900 I bought in '77, sold it in '81 to buy a leftover '80 MkII new. Currently still have the '80 MkII and a 2000 ZRX1100 with matching Corbin bags. Just thought I would introduce myself.I am ecstatic today because I finally got the '80 KZ to run smoothly on all 4 today. in '98 I had the carbs apart because cylinder1 was cold and had spark. I totally disassembled them and ultrasonically cleaned the bodies, bowls, and all jets on all 4 carbs. Still was only running on 3. I'd been messing with the bike on and off over the years with no luck, lately was not firing on cylinder 3 or 4 or both. Well, the float needles looked pretty good but I though one or more might be sticking so I went over the inside bore of the seats with 600 sandpaper. I might have had a problem with the vacuum on the petcock and also the valve that brings air to the ports on the valve cover (emissions stuff) was stuck and got it free by sucking on the hose. Not exactly sure what fixed the bike, but I will have it on the road. Here is my old KZ900.
