Hi everyone! Found this site by accident when trying to get info on a 1983 kz305. A gal is selling one for $375 with 14,000 miles on it because she said the starter went out. She used it to commute to school last summer until it broke. I can't find much info on the internet on this model. Even here, there isn't too much info. Is it a difficult one to work on? As you can see by my moniker, I have an old VW so I can use a wrentch or two  ! Its been years since I rode last so I want something relatively easy to run to work and back. I figure this bike might be a good bargain. What do you think? Thanks for reading!

Welcome 1960VW! I can't tell you if the bike is a bargain or not. You pretty much have to answer that question for yourself. Do you have a motorcycle boneyard near you? If so, you should try and find the starter. Are you even sure it's the starter? It may be something simple like corroded wires. Good luck!

Kz305 starters are fairly cheap to find, Just have to locate a Bike salvage yard around you.

If not, update your sinature profile so w can find where you are from and someone will pipe in and help you out. Many of the members have spares.

Also, these starters are easy to rebuild, find a manual somehow or search the Files section and tear into it, I rebuilt mine off my old kz550 and also a GL1000 Goldwing without a manual.

If you can work on Bug's you will do fine with a bike

And WELCOME to the MADNESS.
