HI i'm new to the kz world and pretty new to motorcycles in general. I'm only 15 so my experience is somewhat limited, but I am pretty used to toolin with cars, and with my 81 cm400e honda, which was my first bike.

About a month ago I bought my first kz, I found a farmer who had a 78 kz650 b2 laying in his barn for 15 years. I bought it for $100 and trailered it home, After presure washing through a half inch of grime I saw that the paint is like new and it had very minimal surface rust.

It looked like a good buy and I think it really was. and it'll being running tomorrow after I finish putting in the new carb kits.

So I should get a few rides in before winter.

I hope to get it looking good, for spring.

If anyone has any suggestions for modding my bike I am always open to ideas.

Thanks a lot. :)

Nice catch. Make sure the brakes work before taking it out for a spin. It doesn't matter how good or bad it runs, stopping is more important.

15 years?
Drain the tank and look inside for rust.
Change the oil and filter with motorcycle-specific oil.
Check the tires for age cracks, and you might want to replace them before riding it.
Wear at least a helmet, jacket, pants, and gloves before venturing out, if you don't have them already
Go easy with it, as it's been sitting for a long time.

Where's the pictures already?

I'll get pics as soon as I can. As for the list of inspections, don't worry the tank was drained before he stored it, unfortunately the carbs weren't. And I drained the oil and replaced it, so it should run like new.

Thanks for all the replies.
