n00b from nebraska *updated w/pic*
02 Sep 2007 20:44
Hi all! Long time lurker finally joined up. I'm from Lincoln, NE and have an 82 KZ550. I've had it for 9 years now, bought it with 8100 miles on it, and only put about 20 more since I never got a license to ride it. I'm trying now, though.
It's got a kerker pipe, rebuilding the carbs tomorrow with a jet kit and pods. I know most people don't like the pods, but I really don't plan on riding much to necessitate not having them. I traded my second car I ever owned, a fully loaded 81 cutlass supreme brougham for the bike and took in 150 bucks. Not bad considering its time. I parked it under my brother's deck for 8 years because the battery went dead, just dug it out last month, cracked 375 bucks getting the tank boiled, service front brake, oil the chain, do an overall inspection, and mount up my new tires I got for it. After all the neglect she's been through, it still shines up decent. Not like the day I bought it, but I'm proud of my little bastard child. ![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
I'll get a couple day pics up tomorrow after the build hopefully. See you guys on the boards!
Justin

Welcome to KZr Justin.
I fondly remember the Kawi 550 I owned back in '88, ran the piss out of it and it NEVER faltered!![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)
I'd gladly buy it back from the guy I sold it to if he hadn't run it without oil and seized the engine on it.
![:( :(](/media/kunena/emoticons/5.png)
When you get a chance, be sure to update your profile to include your location and your bikes info.
There might be other KZr members living near you that can lend a helping hand with repairs if needed, or to get together and go riding with/sit around and drink "wobbly-pops" and shoot the bull with.

Welcome aboard!
I'm just down US 77 across the state line. RCHER is from Beatrice and is working on a "make one 650 from 3 650s" project that includes a titled half-bike I gave him this summer.
We're kind of thin in KZR members from this part of the world. Enjoy your 550.

hahah.. and that's why I love cheap older machines. little cost, little effort by comparison, one-off custom to your liking, still little cost, and fun. ![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)
My parents are from the wymore/beatrice area. What's you fella's last names? I'm sure there's some connection in some sort. Also, what town are you from over the border?
