newbie in MI
18 Aug 2007 18:12
Hello all, just got a new bike a few months ago, and have been lurking around KZR ever since.
Bought a 78 KZ650 back in March, sold my car and have ridden it everywhere since.
It's been killing me to not be modifying this beast, but there's nothing really wrong with her to justify to my wife the extra "cost of ownership."
This winter I already have to do fork seals, a carb clean and sync and maybe a rear tire. Other than that she's fine.
What I really want to do though is throw a 4-1 on her (current exhaust is perfectly fine), get a nice fairing like the one's on the ZRX's, new bars and grips, lower profile mirrors and get rid of the rear chrome fender. I know, it sounds like I'm on my way to a cafe, but I'm not. I promise.
The motor runs like a beast, a little boggy when she's cold at low speed, but gets me where I'm going pretty quick. Of course, I still want to get a little more muscle out of this little engine.
After all this, I need to say, my wife has me on a stict budget. I can only spend b-day and Christmas $$$ on this little "project." I feel like a kid again. I'm 30 years old, and I can't wait for my birthday.
Anyway, here's the first of hopefully many pics.

I'm over by the Meijer in Genoa Twp. You, Biquetoast and I should all get together for a ride sometime. And z1rick, my wife knows better, I already tried it. I'm the last of the guys in the family to get a bike. her brother has 3 different Italians and her stepdad is on his third 'Wing.
I'm gonna try for the 3rd time to post pics...

Welcome.
Reduce the size of the pictures to less than 550 pixels wide. That should do it.
