i just bought a 78 kz650. i have never rode a motorcycle before and after riding a dirtbike once it scared the hell out of me. i was a 4-wheeler guy until i went on 2 long riding trips and saw how exhausting it is maintenance wise. i traded an AR-15 out of my gun collection for this bike to save on gas and i because i thought id try something new.

i am 25 years old, have a certificate in electrical maintenance with 2 years left to finish electrical engineering. i have been doing industrial maintenance work since i was 21. i work with my dad for cummins and i love my job. i have been fortunate to have him teach me electronics since i was young and its helped me tremendously. i have slacked off on schooling because my dad is about to retire and he told me i wouldnt want to do this work forever and hes right. i took up a venture into aerial photography with radio control helicopters. you would be amazed at things they are capable of doing. if it wasnt so expensive i would love to start a new career flying full scale commercial helicopters. :P

captain cannibal i like it. were you all talking about aerial photos or photos of my ride? it'll be a while until i have my camera ship going. you wouldnt believe how expensive it is. just a heli kit is $650, 2 blades are $115, i still have to buy a motor ($525) and the electronics just to get it going ($1200) then i have to build a camera pod to mount under the heli ($1500 with camera)

way it works i get the heli up in the air and i see what the camera sees via wireless video. my customer will be sitting beside me and when i have the angle they want i simply make the camera snap some pics, etc. its really not that simple though. i have to take a brand new $500 - $800 camera apart, find the video feed wire going to the auxillery screen on the back of the camera and tap into it so i can convert it to NTSC so the wireless system can transmit a good clean video. last thing you want is a bad wiring job because once the heli is 150 - 200 feet in the air and you lose your signal youre screwed! nothing like seeing a $3500 machine slam into the ground at 100mph. they have some complex equipment for them now like an auto-pilot. its a cheap option on large scale helicopters but small rc helicopters require small electronics. just the autopilot deal is $650. they are extremely high maintenance. one loose screw can cost you BIIIIIG time...which has happened to me with my smaller helicopters but i dont want to lose my new one which is 5 foot long.
