New to the sport, and to KZs
17 Jul 2007 17:23
Hello everyone, this is my first post ever, so I'm not sure if it'll work. Basically I found a good deal over the net:1977 KZ650. Already trying to fix it up, but can't seem to find out exactly what model it is. I think it's a KZ650B, but some guy I know thinks it might be a 650 custom. I'll attach a picture, maybe some of you guys will be able to tell just by looking at it. It's nice to be part of the group!

Welcome to KZr SebRain. ![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
Unless someone swapped mags and triple disc brakes onto it, that's definately a KZ650 "C" (Custom) model.
The KZ650 "B" (Standard) models had spoked wheels, single disc brake in front and drum brakes in the rear.
Aside from those things, the available colors were about the only other diff between the two models.

Looking good!
I would have to guess that it is a Custom with a new paint job. The VIN tells all, though. Whatever letter follows KZ650 is your model.
Welcome aboard.

As Nate said your serial # will tell you which model your bike started out as. The one thing I can see is that the front fender came from an SR. It also looks like the rear wheel may have as well. It is hard to tell from the pic if that is an 18" rear wheel or a 16" from an SR. One other way to tell if it started out as a C model is if it has a button on the left switch for 4 way flashers. The B models did not come with 4 ways.
Nice looking bike, I'm looking for an LTD seat like that for my C-1. Welcome to the board.

Yeah, it is a KZ650C. Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it! Went to the Kawasaki dealer, trying to get open and close throttle cables, can't get them anymore. Guess I'll have to buy motion pro I guess. Any thoughts?

Welcome!
Jeez, there's alot of nice looking 650s out there... I've got to keep my eyes peeled.
You can get KZ parts from:
www.z1enterprises.com
Jeff Saunders is the owner, and he's a member of KZrider.com.
There's also bikebandit.com, denniskirk.com, redlinecycles.com, and of course, your local Kaw dealer (fleecer).
Ride safe!
Edit:
What the hell is that in your avatar... an iguana and palm trees?
Canada must be having a warm summer!

Welcome. Nice 650 you got there. ![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)
Is the back fender painted black? First one I've noticed like that. Looks good that way.
