Newbie with a long term project!
11 Jun 2007 09:42
Hey guys and gals...I am Jeremy from Roanoke, VA. I recently purchased a 1977 S-3 KZ400 and its in pretty crappy shape. The previous owner was involved in a divorce and I guess his wife took control over the motorcycle, so he got a hammer and beat it up pretty badly. I am a powder coater so this baby will get the full treatment of powder all over it! I am also wanting to make it as unique as possible and just not do a restore. Anyways...enough of my babbling...heres the pics!

Hey Jeremy,
Welcome to KZR. Looks like you will be needing the advice available here from the smart guys. (Not me).
That poor bike is really beat up; you are going to need a boatload of new parts... I'm thinking you would be better off to try and find another whole bike to get one up and running...
Either way, we love pictures, and that's quite a set of "Before" photos you have!

Yeh...she is gonna need alot but I can buy parts that look crappy and make them new with a little bit of powder coating! I just need to concentrate on getting this frame stripped and down to bare metal to coat.

Well good luck to the 2 of you. A good place to start parts searching is z1enterprises.com. As for solid parts like covers, heads, exhaust, etc. go to ebay or check one of the members here for extra parts.

Welcome. Definitely have your work cut out for you. Not sure how current the info here is, but might be worth a look.
VTCycle
Good luck on the restore.
