Hi All,

I am new to this forum. I am from a South African Forum www.bikesa.biz/forum

I am here to learn a little about the 1980 Kawasaki KZ1000-G. We were given a task to find out why this bike was so special. What made it special. The only thing we can find is that it was "the first fuel injected production Kawasaki.".

Can you guys give me anything else that made it special?

Gringo can give you a full dialogue on that. I would change the post topic too
'guestion about 1980 1000 G" and you will get him like a shark to chum or a bug to a nightlight! Also do a search on here on that model.

Funny Wolf. I decided to check the board since I'm not looking forward to cutting my grass and this question gives me an excuse to put it off for a few minutes.

In answer to your question Zeus, Kawasaki made 3200 of these bikes back in 1980 one for every US dealer at the time. As you already have found out it was the first fuel injected motorcycle made. It is similar to the LTD model but has several things that are unique to it. It came with a chrome insert on the fuel tank, the engine covers were all chromed, the engine was blacked out, the seat was longer than an LTD (mainly because the computer for the fuel injection is housed in it) the normal tail section is absent, the exhaust system is unique to this model as is the rear grab rail and sidecover badging. It also had gold colored mag wheels and used pullback handlebars. I think that pretty much covers it, you can see a picture of the one I have in the gallery here at

Shoot that didn't take nearly long enough, off to cut grass.
