Hey my name is Markus, I've joined this forum after spending about a month just nosing around. I've been trying to do alot of research on the famous Kawasaki KZ's. Right now i have two bikes: a 2001 Yamaha TW200 enduro and a 1982 Honda CM450c(i believe a rare prize). Both of which i love and im simply looking for something bigger and more abundant in parts (quite frankly finding parts for the CM450c is not fun and very pricey). Which led me to the mighty KZ and its corresponding forum that has been nicely put together. Right now I'm looking for either mid to late 70's KZ1000 or trying to find a decommissioned KZ1000p. I might post a bit later about how similar the two bikes are since the KZ1000c and KZ1000p(the p goes up to 2002) are decades newer then their counter-parts. The other minor thing you guys might find peculiar about me is the fact i want the older KZ1000 engine for its kick starter. So we'll have to see what's in store for the future.

Hey Makarth,

A 1000 with a kick starter? Good trivia question. My KZ900 has a kick starter and I thought it was the last of the line. I'm probably wrong. Which 1000's had kick starters?

Welcome to KZR.

Just about everyone looks at me funny, or I have even had some kids cheer when I kick the 750 twin into life. I enjoy it, as well. I need to see if I can get plates that say "KICKIT", or perhaps even "KICKME". :P

Yea i believe the 1000's had the kick starter as well but the KZ1000p doesn't. So sad huh? Btw the "kickme" is only a bad idea cause you might get a motorcycle gremlin or some pedestrian who thinks he's funny and then your bike is on the ground :( Haha.
