Hello,my name is Tim.I bought my KZ1000 in 77
brand new.Imediantly installed a Racer one header,
K&N pods and Lester wheels.Did real good street
racing.I got beat in 78 by piped XS1100.I beat
all the GS1000s and beat the CBXs real bad.The
ones around here were duds,I almost traded the KZ
in on one.79 I put in a 1075 kit and RC #388 cams,
my dad ported the head and on went 29 smoothbores.
It was fast but if I got a whole summer on a head gasket I was lucky.By 81 the GS1100s were getting
closer. On head gasket #4 I added MTC biggest cam
for over buckets and the oil pan trap door.In 85
my brother bought a GS1150.With just a header he
beat me.Then I broke an RC valve spring and lunched
the head at 27,000 miles.Ported a Z1R head,1170
Aries kit,Ape studs and springs,33 smoothbores.
Cometic gasket.Great combo.Made my brother spend
a lot of money,1197 kit etc.At 50,000 miles I blew
2nd gear.In went a MTC heavy duty set and ball
bearing clutch pusher,3rd or 4th set of plates.
Now at 61,000 miles,a 1197 Wiseco kit is going in.
The bike was knocking and smoking a little.Number
#3 had a broken #2 ring.I hope I did not bore you.

I live in Kalamazoo.I do alot
of H.O.slotcar racing in the
Detroit area.Have a couple
fellow street racers that live
there.One has a stretched GSXR1100
and the other a hopped up Busa
with PM chrome wheels.I will
try to get some pics on here soon.
I just sold a 1200 Bandit.Rebuilding
the KZ and I bought a KTM dirtbike.
I used to MX when I was young.I must
be going through my 3rd mid-life crisis.
1st one,I bought a Harley.Second one,
I bought a Bass boat.Next one ,I think
I will build a Turbo bike.It's funny,
but ever since I bought 150k of life
insurance,my wife lets me have more toys.
