New To Forums - howdy
25 Apr 2007 06:22
Hey there folks.
I'm David and I figured this was the place to be for all my KZ questions that are sure to come up. It is my second year with the bike and my second year riding. I bought a KZ last year right before I took my MSF training and got my license. It is a 1981 KZ650 H, and I think I found out from the first mechanic that I took it to that the front forks weren't stock which I didn't know.
The cycle was wonderful to me last year, but this year it is having some issue getting going, so I will likely be posting to the Electrical forum right after. Should be fun learning a lot more about the bike )
Just thought I would say hello first and thank any and all in advance for reading.

Welcome David.
Great looking 650.
Hard to tell in this picture if the front end has been changed. You got any pix showing the front end better?
Yours will have a differnt front end than earlier 650s. More in line with the 750/4s of the time.

Welcome to KZr!
I guess I'm not very good at spotting mods to a 650, but your forks look stock to me. Lots of 650 riders here, so you'll get lots of input.

The bike is black, and hard to notice but there is a dent on the right side of the gas tank and the rear fender is crimped from a rear-end minor collision with the previous owner.
And the handle bars are funky. I'd rather they were different but money being what it is, that will have to wait for another day. )
I'll try the suggestion of checking the plug wires at both ends to make sure the connection is solid. Barring that fix (fingers crossed) the next post will be in the Electrical forums. Thanks for the welcome.
Oh, and Howdy is most definitely not a western Mass thing! Don't know where I picked that up from.

Welcome to the board. You have the same bike as I do and your frontend appears stock. The 650 CSR is a really great little bike one of my favorites. Below is a pic of mine so you can compare the frontend.
