Hello from San Antonio
13 Jan 2007 10:50
Hi folks. Just thought I'd log in and say hello from rainy San Antonio. I don't have a vintage KZ...just a 1995 GPZ 1100 which is a great bike for sure. Anyone think that I'm crazy for thinking about trading out of a 1982 KZ1100 shaft drive thouring model in choice condition? I really miss having the storage etc.. for errands.

Welcome. I'd rather have the GPz and a tank bag.
It all depends on what type of riding you do most.

Good thought...although with 2 little kids and payong for daycare x 2, $$$ isn't quite that loose to be having 2 bikes at the moment. He wants $2950 and it has 10k original miles on it. BTW...I'm originally from Wisconsin...Wauwatosa to be exact.

Hello Tfats! Another Texas Z rider here. Is this the KZ that has been bumping around the local Craiglist for a while? It appears to be a very nice bike...but I'd hold onto the GPz (unless it is thrashed, of course)..buy some aftermarket touring gear for the GPz...it will handle so much better than the KZ1100...tganek still has the best idea:)

Alvin, you are correct...I've been eyeing that one, but you're probably right...I should probably just keep the Gpz and get a trunk and maybe some bags. Darn near 3k for an 82' is probably a bit steep anyway..even in nice condition. My Gpz is as nice as any you'll find and only has 11k on it.
Nice to run across other former Wisconsinites once in a while! Actually, my path has been Tosa...Phoenix...San Antonio. Eventually, will probably move back up to the Midwest though...
