Sorry Sandy - My mistake. They were from last week's flyer. I have been running so hard this past week that I missed the sale.

BTW I believe you can even find some beer drinkin' friends at Canadian Tire since they have everything there. I usually find mine in the parking lot either counting their CT money or changing wiper blades.

i used a tube of autosole on mine and soft cloth
theyre shinier than they were.
so you can use fine grit paper and a polish didnt
realise that.always thought the grit paper would
leave scratches shows how new i am at this bike building
lark:blush:

You didn't "Steal" ANY thread,Shoe!
So what do You have for polishing/buffing tools so far, btw?
What are You doing, and what are You learning?
Hey...if ANYONE can learn more about it...that's what it's all about, right?
I know that I'VE learned more than I knew when I first started polishing.B)

a cheap bench grinder can easily be converted to a nice polishing rig. there are extensions available to get the buffing wheels out away from the body of the grinder.

actually have two grinders set up this way - one for each compound! B)

little tip for those just starting out - do NOT mix compounds on the same wheel - have a different wheel for each compound.

btw - very nice job there Sandy! gonna blind somebody with those fork legs when you are all done!

Years ago my brother and I built a polishing rig with a big motor, some pulleys & belt, a shaft and some pillow blocks, all on a welded steel frame. He had a drag boat with a bunch of aluminum Nicson hardware (water cooled headers, valve covers, etc) that we polished.

Alas, my brother and I aren't on speaking terms, or I'd see if he still has that thing...

At first,I had a dryer motor attached to a thick piece of wood, with a pulley atteched to a mandrel(a shaft with threaded ends)with a v-belt.
It worked, but the revs sucked.I think it was somewhere around 1250,or something.
Well...I upgraded to an 8inch bench grinder and wow...what a difference!:woohoo:
