fairing attachment point? was created by jeffsargent
I am attempting to mount a fairing from an '81 KZ1100B to an '82 KZ1000J. Can anyone provide some help on where the lower attachmnet point attaches to the bike?

Jeff...there is a bracket that attached to the bottom of the headlight shell area...the two mounting holes on the fairing (as pictured) attach to it. Get up on www.kawasaki.com and go to the parts diagram for the 1982 KZ1100B2 (look at the exploded diagram for the headlight to see the bracket and get the part number). Now, FYI, you have either a fairing for a KZ750R1, KZ1100B2, KZ1000R1/2, or KZ1100R1 (all these are 1982/3/4 models). The KZ1100B1 (1981) came without a fairing (unless it was ordered special from the factory) and it looked different than the 1982 fairing. I suspect that the J model does not have your required bracket mount and you may have to replace with a headlight apparatus from a 1982 KZ750R1 or KZ1100B2.

Jeff.I attached my fairing to a fabricated bracket which I then attached to the front of the lower triple clamp(mounted it to the area where the front brake line splitter is mounted). Simple

Michael,
Thanks so much. I beleive the fairing is from a KZ1100B2, so it must be an '82. I have the headlight assembly, just not the bracket; that is why I could not figure out where the fairing was going to go. Thanks again.
