Gas leak, from the side logo...

just make sure you give whatever you use plenty of time to cure - COMPLETELY - before you go putting gas back in. if the directions say 24 hours - then you better leave it for 24 hours - if it says 24-36 hrs - best to leave it the 36...

Hey I went ahead and bought the Seal All as you suggested reborn, since you did the exact same dumb thing as I did

I sanded down a small area of paint around the screw hole then coated the logo screw in the seal all, screwed it in, then put a layer of seal all around the screw. I'll let it dry for the rest of the day, though it does mention only 6 hours is needed, I'll be patient this time

I might add another layer in 6 hours on top of the first layer, just to be safe. Not going to look pretty but at this point im desperate not to have a leaking gas tank

At the end of the day, a slightly nasty looking left side of my tank is better than how it looked before with 75% of the paint stripped off

SEAL ALL

Just flush the tank extremely well to remove any possible fumes and weld the sucker up. I think the tank looks better without the emblem anyway. MIG and a grinder will fix you up in no time.

Well, the Seal All is holding up so far. I put 2 coats of seal all over the screw i pout back in, let it dry overnight and today i filled the tank up. No leakage at all

being a painter, if you brought me that tank and asked me to paint it i would turn it down.
even if it looked kosher from where it sits.
if i sanded it smooth and found crap like that i would return the tank asap and tell you to keep your money.
free of charge even:angry:
again, being a painter i cant stand to see slopp-assed
repairs. more to the fact if it makes more work for me.
if you care about your z then pay the money or invest in the tools to fix it right.

Oh I have no intention of painting the tank, if anything I will sand down my spare tank, line that and get that painted. This one was just a big improvement on what I had before.

There is no way I can afford to do a proper fix for this, too much other crap I need to deal with on the bike that is going to cost me. Im not leaking gas anymore so I consider that a win

sorry rob if i offended but i have a few pet peaves.
if you got it going and its a temp solution then i can understand. my p.o.v. is from one side of the spectrum.
i get probably 3-4 "do-it-yourself" repairs a year and it drives me nuts.
my post last night was hindered by my encounters with a few "wild turkeys" and a p.o.ed wife. (my appologies:unsure: )
