Stripped Badge Hole in the Tank

In the course of taking off the Kawasaki badges on the tank of my 1976 KZ400S to repaint, I had to drill out one of the rusted-in small attaching screws that goes into the little 'bar' under the badge. I was wondering if there's a way to fix it/rethread it so I can affix the badge on the tank again...I was thinking of filling the tiny hole with JB Weld and putting the screw back in there until it hardens, and then unscrewing it, because it should form around the screw and kind of make its own thread, of sorts.  Or is there a better way?

The JBweld will probably adhere to the bolt and hole equally well.  Maybe fill the hole with JBweld and after it cures you can try to tap it.  It's a 3mm thread, by the way.  If that doesn't work you could always put some 3M weatherstrip adhesive in the area of the hole in question to glue that end of the badge to the tank.  Kind of a hack repair, but it might work.
