Hello, my name is Carlos and I am new to this forum, thank you very much for accepting me.
I have been reading many of your messages and I have been able to verify that you are experts in this great Kawasaki brand and I would like to ask you some questions and see if you can help me.
I would like to restore a 1976 Kawasaki kz650 B1 from my father and if possible I would like you to tell me the original color code of this bike.
Unfortunately, this motorcycle was painted later and therefore I do not know the code of its original color, I know it was Red so I imagine it would be the Candy Super Red color, although I have seen that there is another more orange Red color but this color I think does not match for the year of manufacture and model of this Kz650b1.
Please could you help me ?, the adhesive kit for the warehouse where I could buy them ?.
I have been reading and this original model in the factory had the Dunlop F11 3.25 19 and Dunlop K87 4.0 18 "tires, is it possible that they were these tires?
Thank you very much for helping me, delighted to be part of this forum and to be able to address all of you.

Replied by hardrockminer on topic KAWASAKI KZ650 B1 1976 Color query Candy Super Red
I think 1977 was the first year for the KZ650 B1, not 1976.  The tank colour was Super Red.

It had stripes as shown in the link below.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

There are no actual paint codes for vintage Kawasakis.  You would have to scan the stock color at an auto paint shop or find someone who has already done it then use the code they came up with or buy their paint.  DiabloCycles sells stripe kits. www.diablocycle.com/

There is no such thing as a 1976 KZ650.  If your bike was built in late 1976 it is a 1977 KZ650.  It is no different than buying a new 2021 car in late 2020; the new car is still a 2021.  This fact is important when you try to buy parts.

The name of the original red Kawasaki color for the 1977 KZ650 is "Candy Super Red."  That is the only red color for the 1977 KZ650.  The paint was done in 3 coats.  The first was Special Silver Basecoat; the second was Super Candy Red; and the third was clear.

The original tires that the bike came with are not available.  I bought my 1977 KZ650-C1 new in very early 1977 and I can tell you that those original tires were ok but not great.  I use Pirelli Sport Demon tires (100/90 V 19 front; 120/90 V 18 rear) on my KZ650 and they work great!

Getting the color name or code is the easy part, finding paint that matches is far more difficult.

Thank you all very much for your answers, you have helped me a lot and I am very grateful, with all this information that you have provided me I am sure it will be fantastic and with its original Candy super red color, without the help of all of you I would not have been possible.
I will follow in detail the comments in this forum are very helpful for those of us who are getting started in this magnificent Kawasaki model.
