1973 z1 fuel tank

Hello all. I have a 1973 Z1 and a 1978 Z1R. I wonder if anyone here can answer a 1973 Z1 fuel tank question. I bought this bike about 25 years ago as part of my collection .The bike seems mostly correct other than the rear rim, the speedo and tach, 3 of the four exhaust pipes, The other parts numbers all seem correct. The fuel tank appears to have been repainted wuth the correct rootbeer and orange and was like new 25 years ago and still is. I wonder what the tanks story is. It is a correct shape understructure. It has a parts number on the rear mounting tab where the rubber strap holds tank down. It reads 2 19. Can anyone tell me about the 73 tank specifics and if this is original 73 tank.? Any other distinctive 73 tank features? Thanks John in Tucson.

A '73 tank will have the short badges that have 122mm between screw centers. It may also have the old-style black petcock if that hasn't been changed.
If it's the original gas cap the latch pin (not the pivot pin) should be serrated, if it's installed so that the split can be seen.
Don't remember any numbers stamped on the rear tang, but you've piqued our curiosity. We'll have to dig our '73 tanks out of winter storage & look. We'll post what we find.

From tanks I have seen another feature only on the 73 was no alignment raised ribs at the square corners of the rear mount tab.
