Tank Badges

I picked up an extra set of tank badges cause I want to try painting them the identical black shade as the tank. Going for a really low key look obviously. My question is, how can I prep the surface so it will take paint from a rattle can? The surface is all nice glossy paint and of course it's deeply embossed and patterned so sanding is out of the question I think. Paint stripper?

Also they appear to be made of white metal or some such and as delivered they are flat. How do I bend them to conform to the curve of the tank? Hair dryer?

Turns out paint stripper worked fine. Anyway here's what it turned out like. Still got the stock white ones so I can swap them around as the mood strikes me

They're screwed on.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI got them off ebay here;
