A 1981 GPz1100 windshield question was created by Mcdroid

Greetings folks...has anyone, in their internet travels, ever come across a source for the windscreen for the aftermarket (but special ordered through Kawasaki) fairing for the 1981 KZ1100-B1 (aka GPz1100)? Note the difference between the photo and a 1982 GPz1100 fairing.

I don't know if this will help, but I ditched the factory 'bread box' on my '81.
I fitted standard gauges and a Maier fairing.

Yep. The way to make the 1982 fairing fit properly on the 1981 motorcycle is to swap out the 1981 instrument pod for a 1982 pod. The 1981 pod is an ungainly bugger. :)

There was a factory option of a big front fairing, I have the original catalogue I'll see if I can scan it. A part number would be helpful.

Mega rare and never seen one in the skin.

Tyrell Corp...I'd really like to see the information in the catalogue...I have been looking for a copy of that catalogue for a number of years now...the fairing part number is K46000-153...and I have the fairing but it is missing the windscreen. Not sure if the windscreen was ever available separately. Thanks again.

You might just be able to get one custom made, plastics are easier for one offs rather than tooling up for steel pressings - I guess depends on how much you want one. If you have the original it would be helpful.

Skidmarx uk are good. www.skidmarx.co.uk/contact-us

Careful what you wish for, I really like the iconic twin shock GPz silhouette, but handlebar fairings were quickly replaced with frame mounted on the last generation zx GPz and later GPZ for good reason. I noticed the big zed 1100 is about as aerodynamic as a mainsail in crosswinds, so maybe there is a reason the touring fairing didn't catch on. One might think a big heavy muscle bike wouldn't get blown about in crosswinds, but actually much worse than a 550 or 750.

That kawasaki dealer options brochure is a gem, beautiful photography and rarely seen now. Note the 'kerker by kawasaki'
exhuast and Lawson seat on the above picture.

There is a member here who has it on his photobucket - he sent the original brochure to me. I'll ask him if I can post a link ok.

That, I believe , is a 1984-1986 vintage ZX750R-Gpz900 windscreen...wish I had a ZX750R (1986).

PM sent regarding a scan of the ' 81 GPz accessories catalougue.

I'm sure someone could make you a one off. The reason I sent the last link is I've noticed some NOS bits that gets left on the shelf sometimes lack the part number ticket or have incorrect info,

I contacted your suggested person but he has not been active on KZR for over a month...thanks for the info, though. Nice photo that accompanied your last post :)
