i had a post earlier, couldn't figure out what was going on with the color on my '77 kz750, thought blue was original, turns out to be green, had to repaint side covers, working on the gas tank. duplicolor's emerald green is a perfect match for the original, as far as i could tell.

Enamel is far less forgiving that way. It seems to be more gas-resistant, though.

I appreciate the tip. I intent to do a little paint trickery this winter and was going to start looking for a matching color. Thanks!

Cratgo how hard is this paint job?

Duplicolor sounds really complicated but could a beginner pull it off?

yes, it's easy, nswift, this is my first serious attempt, preparation is the key and don't get in a hurry. i used more than half a can on just 2 side covers, with large, wide, sweeping motions to get a uniform coat, and to avoid any running, i should send a pic of the plywood i painted them on, there's as much paint on the covers as there is on the plywood. heres a pic of the tank so far.

Well that is good news to hear. Doing as much as paint jobs is really the finishing touch for the "with my own two hands" kind of pride we take in our KZs.

Fact is I don't NEED to repaint and I have this cool subtle metal flake white center fade to light blue and it may grow on me. That is a SWEET green the author posted though!! My friends 1995 Z-28 is that color... *drools*
