I understand that removing it could be very easy with a hammer but I want to take it out and replace it. Is it doable ? Has anyone done this before? Any words of wisdom?
The reason being that Im looking at powdercoating (or maybe anodising) the engine cases I dont think a powdercoating oven (or an acid bath) would do the seals any favours.

Hi Davi, You can take 2 sockets. 1 Bigger to catch it, as it pushes out. Then 1 socket just a bit smaller than glass in diameter.
Put them in a vise and just tighten the 2 sockets that are sandwiching the sight glass.
Almost like a hydraulic press. That's how we changed universal car joints when we were Kids.
It has a solid dried up sealer on them. Make sure to lean the surface
And most important if you powdercoat is to tape off the open hole, so it stays nice and clean and fresh aluminum.
I have had these project parts sitting for years, finally doing work with them.

A little dab of silicone grease around the seal and it will pop in fairly easily. I did mine and didn't have to press it other than with my hands.
