My 1000 had paint like that when I got it. I took a utility razor blade and started chipping and breaking chunks off. Then I hit the tail with some sandpaper to knock off the stubborn places. I was 15 then and had way more time on my hands than I do now.

Wet and dry with a block, plenty of water and a dash of dish soap will cut through it the fastest and get a paintable surface.

I want to remove the paint completely.

That's on there thick someone primed heavy 1 or 2 colors then clear!
I hate those paint jobs. I had bought a bike way back when Dupont "IMRON" paint was out. That stuff was the hardest stuff.
I break down and buy the " aircraft stripper for plastic".
That's all got to come off! No feather edging that one!
Are the 2 side covers the same? Or you just painting the tail?

Hope you don't have arthritus! Your hands will be locking up. I also would turn the pressure down in the glass bead cabinet.
Use some worn out glas , and clean out the seams and folds, grooves on the side covers.
I always had to have the paint as best as I could get it to show quality.
Maybe some of the new Vapor or soda blasting even crushed walnuts work for media blasting

I strip plastic of paint by soaking the part for a while in used brake fluid or rags soaked in brake fluid and applied to the surface. It will bubble and lift and scrape off easily in sheets.

Yes, That's a good idea. even new fluid, cheaper than a gallon of stripper!

I'd first try to chip off as much paint as possible. The chips showing at present suggest there is some hope with this approach. Then I'd take a small DA with some 100 grit paper and have at it.
