New Paint and Bars was created by The_Proletariat
I have a couple updates about some projects I have done in the last year.

I swapped out the buckhorn bars for some Emgo superbike bars. Also painted the tank and sidecovers Ford Engine Blue.

Not as impressive as some of the work I have seen here but good enough for a $600 motorcycle.

If it is rattle can paint give it a few weeks to harden fully, then using 1500 to 2000 wet and dry followed by T cut or 'hand glaze' you might just impress yourself the shine you can get.

That colour looks like Moriwaki blue.

Looks good, how do you like the bars? Super bike bars are what I run also, love them

The paint might need to be top coated with a fuel resistant clear coat. SprayMax 2K clear

A similar blue, but not quite the same. AMC Big Bad Green, Big Bad Blue & Big Bad Orange

2k out of a can seems really handy, it hardens rock hard within a couple of weeks without baking - to the extent any compounding is easiest done just before it has fully hardened after about a week.

It is spray paint. I may try that.

Super Bike bars are fantastic. Much easier to lean on the bars to corner. More room, and no more wrist pain that I had with the buckhorn bars. I need to source some different mirrors.

The paint might need to be top coated with a fuel resistant clear coat. SprayMax 2K clear

This is the second time I painted the tank. On a real hot day fuel overflowed the tank and runied the color coat. Didn't seem to affect the primer much though.

I understand spray paint won't hold up to gasoline however I had to do something. The PO's shitty black paint job was peeling off in sheets and the tank was starting to rust. I cannot afford what a body shop wanted to charge to paint the tank so I did what I had to do.

The 2K clear holds up to gas spills from what I've read but is not cheap .......... my 2nd set tank and panels will get the treatment some day....... and another vote for super bars ...... mine are off a 79 Suzuki S 1000 and are close maybe a inch lower yet.

I'm using the 2K (catalyzed urethane)? also. Great stuff
The $8.00-$9.00 clear coat stuff from Dupli-Color (auto parts stores) looks pretty when polished but is utter junk and even your bare hands will scratch it, let alone resist gas spills!?? HA ha ha ... totally worthless and just melts off in pockets, smears and craters of goo.
I was pissed but should have know better.

So far so good.... still use a rag with my gas fill ups but way way way WAY better.
