No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationGentlemen, I need to replace my seat cover and would like to know who makes the best exact replicas of our seats? Also like to get new foam too. I've looked at a Saddleman kit in which includes new foam. Also a cover from a place called Pit-Replica. (out of Bangkok, Thailand) The Pit cover is supposed to be an exact replica for my 81 1000 K1 LTD. (has all the horizontal and vertical lines in the right places)
You can see it here ...

Although I don't think it's an exact replica I like the idea of the Saddleman kit. Their cover is supposed to be pre-assembled onto the new foam making for what should be a fairly easy installation. Again I don't think it's an exact replica in not having the vertical lines going up the riser between the rider/passenger seat areas.
Am I being too picky? Yeah, probably. What can I say? I like the way the seat looks with those vertical lines verses plain flat material there.

Are there any other sources for exact replica seat covers out there? I've been on the inner web but not having much success other than Saddleman popping up everywhere.

Thanks in advance.
Robert

JC Whitney used to sell them but I don't know if they still do. Last time I just hauled my seat into one of the local upholstery shops and they duplicated the seat I had in new material and added some foam where needed. It was great work and only cost about $200. Shop around and you can get a good deal on it.

These folks have '81 KZ1000 LTD covers:

These folks have covers and foam, but they're in England and you would need to ask if they have stuff for your model:

I purchased the pit replica cover from ebay but only because they were nearly the ONLY place that sells covers for 83 KZ1100. 76-80 900/1000 I found multiple suppliers. The pit replica isn't a bad cover. It's cheaper material but fairly easy to install and fit good. I think for your bike partzilla.com still sells seat covers. They did as well for mine but were priced pretty insane.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationJust got off the phone with Saddleman who told be they don't have a cover or foam for my bike. Question ... What is the difference in the 1977-1980 KZ1000 B1-B4 LTD seat and my 81 K1 LTD seat? Or for that matter is there any other model that's the same as my 81 ?

Edit - I just looked on the Motorcycle Superstore website, who sell Saddleman seat covers. I entered my make/model and they claim to have a cover for my bike. ??? So how can they have one when Saddleman says they don't?

Then as an alternative in which includes new foam there's this one ...
According to their fitment listing, it's supposed to fit my bike. (KZ1000B-K) No it's not an original replacement. It's obviously shaped differently and doesn't have the same pleats as the original. It doesn't look terrible. Just different.

Sargent Cycle Products is the place to go if you want foam work done on your vintage seat. I have had them recover several of my seats and do foam work (their super cell atomic foam is great stuff) that turned out great! I try to find a used seat for what ever bike needs the seat redone, so that I can still ride while they are doing their work.

OK, thanks. I'll give um a call. Meanwhile if you don't mind my asking ... how much $$$.

Here's a pretty nice custom Sargent seat cover ready to go.
Based on your description of their work and atomic foam, I'm actually considering it. ???

The last work they did for me was a set of custom covers for my YZF600. It was about $125 installed. Very good material and fit.

Yeah, I saw that one. Looks pretty rough. The one I have is in better condition. Saw a couple of others too. Don't want to buy used unless it's in like new condition or already been recovered.

But thanks anyway for the tip.
