KZ1000J Fender Under Bracket Support

Hello,
I am hoping someone can answer this question. My current fender has a slight dent/impression above the upper front mouting bracket that can only be seen from certain vantage points. I would show a picture but it does not show on camera. I may fix this as the fender is original to the bike, but can someone tell me if the fenders mounting plate is tight or fixed to the upper fender and assuming so is there some flexibility in the bracket or a gap there so that for example you could wedge a spatula undernieth it. I am considering dentless repair understanding they have a multitude of tools to access dents even under mounting brackets but wanted to ask. The dent company said if there is some flexibility in the bracket or enough room for a spatula they could probably repair it. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that the mounting insert bracket is tightly adjacent to the fender...I have several loose fenders at home and will look tonight to verify.

The mounting bracket is form-fitting to the fender and riveted in place...rephrased, there is no room to slip anything between the two.

Thanks, this is what I thought. I will deal with it I guess at my favourite body shop. The bike is worthy of a perfect fender. In this I am still trying to figure out if this dent was always there or not understanding visually it is not that apparent and I am only now noticing it after 16 years or ownership. As I mentioned a camera does not pick it out.

Anyhow, things are good up here in Canada. The family is growing...and for now it's warm and the bike is running strong and loud. BTW, I love your climate! Hope things are well with you and keep in touch.

The mount bracket is actually a fork brace too, rigid but with some flex. Fittting a plastic mudguard without a fork brace often results in cracking from the front back.

The rivets often rust, also this fork bracing aspect puts quite a lot of stress on them which shows up years later. There should be no gap or movement between the mudguard and mount.
