82 kz seat

I am trying to find/ make a slimmer seat for my 82 kz750 ltd. it's got a huge double seat and I'm building more of a scrambler look. Any recommendations? Would one of the kz900 slim seats fit?

It's unlikely that you're going to find an exact fit (especially with an ltd frame). Your best bet is probably to either create on from insulation foam or buy a beat up 82 750ltd seat online and shave the foam down to give it the look you want

Shaving the foam & recovering would probably be the simplest thing to do.
A tool often suggested for cutting the foam is an electric carving knife.

A KZ750-E seat might work, but like the other Standard models, the seat is shaped at the rear to fit around a ducktail, so you'd have an open end to deal with. The E seat isn't completely flat, but it has less of a step than the Ltd. The 750E frame is similar to the 750-Ltd chain drive models, but I'm not 100% sure the hinges & seat lock are in the exact same location.

I carved the seat on my girlfriend's '82 KZ1000 LTD using a very sharp chef's knife , a rasp and some 80x sandpaper for final smothing. If you want to, you can even add foam by gluing it on with 3M spray adhesive. Here's the seat foam right after carving.



I then sent it to a reupholterer to be recovered
