Our 650 project is really coming along now that my sons home for the Summer.

The frame should get painted this weekend in VHT chassis and roll-bar, then it's time to start ordering the parts :pinch:

The body parts are still in original paint, the tail and side covers are in great shape, the tank not so much.

Brake fluid has attacked the middle section around the badge and there is a dent to the left also in the middle.

The top isn't pretty but good enough for now.

Matching the existing paint would probably be as expensive as doing the whole thing but I'd lose the pin strips and we're on a tight budget so I'm considering doing a different color in the middle with spray cans.

If you have any suggestions or pics you want to share please do.

JD

I'd leave ot alone myself, but I'm just that way. My 97 Ford F350 is beginning to look like your tank, and to me it's still better that way than repaint, otherwise wait for a good or new tank in blue. I've bought 2 blue 78 tanks new on ebay for $200 each over the last few years.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I would prefer to keep it the same color blue but we need to cover the bare metal.

There is a metallic blue in a spray available maybe I should get a can and do a test.

Maybe this guy will ship it? I would have jumped on this if I'd seen it sooner and hadn't already bought all my paint for my project.

Thanks CoolerKing, that is very tempting.

It's good to see that there is stock tanks sill out there for reasonable.

We still have to buy around a thousand bucks worth of parts not including a helmet and riding gear.

So for now it's gonna have to be a couple of cans of paint.

A good auto paint supplier can match the color and put it up in a rattle can.
