Looking Good, ... I would use A few applications of Never Dull {lots of elbow grease} on the engine covers, carburetor tops, & float bowls & cam cover & then finish off with Mothers Aluminum Polish, It'll make em look like chrome ...Good Luck !!!

1980 LTD 1000..,1976 LTD 900, have the 1000&900 now. the rest are previous= 1978 KZ 650 B.., 1980 Yamaha XT 500..,1978 Yamaha DT 400.., 1977 Yamaha yz 80..,Honda trail ct 70.., Honda QA 50...5-1/2 hp brigs & straton CAT chopper mini bike...3-1/2 hp mini bike (WHEN GAS WAS ABOUT 45 CENTS A GALLON)!!!!

I was periodically testing straight to mother's polish. I used never dull back in the day, will this hasten the crossover from flat to shiny? (power clean - simple green - never dull - mother's polish) I have a valve cover that I am prepping separately (the current is cracked). I was looking into drill polish wheels like Old Man Rock had used above. Time is limited and the summer is officially here etc... and I don't want to be polishing when I could be riding but I don't want to miss this opportunity to get my baby shining like it should be. I really appreciate all of the input everyone has given!

Don't do it! It will etch your aluminum and ruin the appearance! Even the oven cleaner containers say do not use on aluminum.

After oven cleaner:

that's clearly an idiot move and good example of leaving it on too long.

Just read through the thread. I am prepping my bike for a The Cycle World Mag sponsored Rolling Concours at Indy Motor Speedway during the Moto GP a week from today. Will use some of your suggestions to get the clean/shin back on the engine! Thanks all! B)
