Can I get away without using filler? See pics.

Do you think I can get away without using filler? In the pics if its black I have sanded down past the old paint. Everything is fibreglass save the tank which is something other than metal and fibreglass. I'm just worried if I use filler I will make an uneven surface worse than it is after my sanding. Before sanding it had cracks where the filler was before, probably because it was 20+ years old.

Feel free to provide tips or if I am doing something wrong.

I'm using urethane 2k primer, white base (with a decent HLPV gun), 2k urethane clear.

As long as its nice and flat Id hit it with some sealer and see how it looks

2k primer is high build used as a light filler, lay it on heavy runs dont matter, then block it out. if its slightly deeper within a few millimeters use a good skim coat like usc brand icing. body fillers have come a long long way and theres no need to fear using it as long as its used properly. also i know this seems like a vauge answer but i cant give my opinion unless i actually ran my hand acrost it.

I don't have any sealer. I have reg shit primer, etching primer, 1k high build primer, and 2k urethane primer. Any of those do?

Just the icing without the filler?

use the urathane primer as modern paints are urathane and 2k is what i always use as it gives you plenty to block on. and icing is a filler its just for thinner imperfections in the ding catagory not dent, its very flexable and awesome to work with, if its deeper than a wave or small gouge youll need a fiberglass specific filler. if its cracked even a little youll need duraglass on the fiberglass or a similar product. i highly reccomend you stay away from bondo brand products and talk to a corvette specialist on the materials you use. they deal with glass on a regular basis and know whats the hot stuff to use.

I recall someone here on KZR used 3M Acryl Green to get a smooth even coat over the entire tank. He covered the whole tank w the stuff, using a flexible spreader. It's supposed to be easy to work with.

When searching for the acryl green, I saw another topic in which a 2k filler was used.
Z1000R and Z1000J - Lots of pics, and Gun-Kote oven baked paint.

Prime everything with primer of choice block sand then spray with a guide coat then resand if no low spots seal and paint

you eventually sand all the guide coat off its just a light dusting its called Guide coat comes in spray bomb easy to sand I always use a thin
paint stick for a block

I am sure others can give you more modern ways to block everything I have learned was 25 years ago and the last year lol

I suck at it. Everytime I think it is ready my buddy keeps finding low spots. I cant see it,think he is just making work for me!

Cool thanks. I was also doing research on the 2k paints and realized I cant use these in the garage. I have to do it outside and its winter right now so unless I get a good day on the weekend might be a few weeks before I can paint with the 2k stuff anyways.
