Custom Z1 Paint Scheme Sort Of

Thought I would Start a thread of my attempt at a Z1 paint scheme variation
Another member and I have bounced ideas off one another on color & style variations

The main goal is a modern version with variations of the original colors and
techniques as with most of the things I do I have a game plan that changes frequently

Decent tank to start with
emblems already shaved by competent body man
current paint decent some scratches will take more than scuffing

Z1 parts.net tail fin and side covers all new

PPG paint supplies and possibly some House of Kolor

dont have any pictures of last night and tonights work my memory card was full and my girl
idnt get back with a new one until I was spraying primer



this is the tank when I bought it last year off ebay used it while working on
my bike the side covers didnt make it through the winter ended up stepping
on one and not sure how the other got cracked



new parts from Z1E

Spent the afternoon sanding the tank and getting some pimer on it.
trying to decide if we are filling the emblem holes in the side covers
since this will be a custom paint scheme

will have some pic's of todays progress later

Looking forward to seeing how this comes out. What do you by "emblems shaved "?

PO had filled the emblem slots he did a good job i didnt grind it all out i will be
putting emblems on but not sure which style (Stick on my Decals or custom painted
I will let that unfold as I go lol

I'm pretty slow and work everything more than needed but got the first coat of primer
on the tank will soft block it tomorrow







i will have allot of down time on this project have to
order some supplies this coming week and havent completely
settled on process yet

Chrome it! Then tinted clear coat. Just a thought

that will be a future paint project for sure i dont have a solid grip on the chroming yet but rest assured I will attempt it i am trying to get my hands on some decent usable tanks to perfect
a couple variations.

I dont know what you mean by your trying to get your hands on some usable tanks to perfect a couple of variations....I have a spare LTD 1000 tank, side covers, & tail piece, that I planned on having them painted in the future,,,if your just looking to perfect your variation, I"d be willing to send them to you & pay for the paint & shipping there & back...Pete

I really want to nail this style for sure the other one seems to be a paintworks specialty but
painting any of em well is inspiring for me.

planned on getting a couple trying a few techniques selling them until I find the one combination I want to keep lol
