1977 650 gets new skin... was created by ratmeister
Hi all, I have been working on my new 650 for a few weeks now and am ready to show off the first stage. Matt (Ten6) helped me get her running good...He also sold me a parts bike which will become my next project (but that is another story).

I trimed the seat and used a seat cover from my Dodge Neon to cover it. It worked great and is weatherproof too! I also added a chin fairing I bought from ebay for $5.00 (from a honda v4 interceptor) and it fits good with 4 hose clamps. I put on chrome drag bars and new grips (need to change them though).

I added LED lights and re-designed my license plate area (probably illegal) and I painted her all in primer black until I decide what color to finish with. Mt last step will be a good cleaning and polish...

Let me know what you thing, and I am open to suggestions on colors...

Pretty funky ratman. Impressive seat job for a do it yourselfer! Something is wrong with the front fender though, it needs to be blacked out or somesuch.

Looks good. I think you need an LTD front fender painted to match, or at least remove the rails from the fork to the back of the fender, they dont need to be there anyway.

Lets see the license plate mods.

It looks great. The black looks good, but I'm sure it would look good in just about any color, except pink!

Bike looks cool. As far as paint goes, you are done already. The flat black looks great. I think it would look good with the emblems painted. Either red or maybe aluminum color. I agree with the fender, it has to be painted and the fender brace removed. I love the seat. Great job

I agree black is cool but RED that would be bad a$$ with a little bit of black accents!

I cut my fender back a few inches in the front and up a couple in back. If you ride in the rain much that might not work for you. I like the black. Black fender would cap if off nicely. Good point on the red if you can find one close to the seat color.

God bless!

You are almost there dude. Alright, here is what I would do.

1. Black out the front fender.
2. Paint the Kawasaki and side emblems red to match your seat. Then use your fingernails to reveal the chrome outline. Thats what I did when I painted mine black.
3. Grab rail could go as is or black out.

Terry, can you tell me what program and steps you used to change his bike to Red?

^^^^^

I'm with him. :)

Since you added the red seat accent (and shocks and cover etc) I think it actually limits you if you don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb. Yellow is out because it'll look too Ronald McDonald. Blue will look too superman, and green will look too Christmas. Just my opinions though. :)

I think Black would be cool, but red, and I mean like a deep Candy Apple Red, would look awesome on this bike.

And as with others, you shoudl paint that fender seeing as it's the last piece of chrome on the bike pretty much.

Look forward to seeing it done. Very clean though I have to say.
