It's not much of an update, but I do have the paint done and the clip-ons on. (The paint is a matte black like they use on the Ducati Monsters.) And, put the pods on. However, I'm waiting for several things to come in before I can run it and tune the carbs:

The new seat cover is being installed at an upholstry shop to make sure those pesky sharp rear corners get covered properly and still fit over the rear plastic.

A buddy of mine that works at a fab shop is putting together a set of rearsets for me.

Oh, and I got the gas cap back from the powder coater... it looks good in flat silver... I plan on doing all the chrome in flat silver and the wheels in flat red.

I'm kinda combining the retro/hot-rod look and the vintage cafe look in hopes to produce a nice ridable custom.

Here a current sketch of the look I'm after(I've changed my mind a few times as I've gotten into the project) and a crappy pic from yesterday... hopefully everything will be in by next weekend! Since I'm starting to cut into riding season, I will prolly bolt on all pieces and go riding... I'll more than likely finish the cosmetics next winter.

Oh, and I got a plate for it too... the guy I bought it off of did not have a title... I took in an Indiana bill of sale from the guy that I bought if from, a documented police check and an Indiana state title search that shows that the bike was never titled in Indiana... got it without a problem.

Cheers,
Claude

Very nice indeed, matte black looks very cool. I have similar thoughts and wonder what are Your plans for the seat?

It's the factory KZ1000st tank... it's a bit of a beast but I like the looks of it in one color.

Here's the bike when it had the stock color and I was messing around with the handle bar set-up:

Dang it... picture didn't load... hang on.

Thank you, I plan on using the stock seat with a new cover for now... I want to go riding and get used to the bike before I do any more changes..

Looks sweet. I like what black does to the lines...makes the ugly ones disappear, and the nice ones pop out. Stealthy look with the matte. Nice.

God bless!

Well.... I got my seat back and was able to work on the bike for a while this afternoon.... I put the main jets back to one step above stock (112.5) and the pilots back to stock.... the needles are still up one notch. I went to bleed the front brake and discovered that the brake fluid looked like jelly... spent quite a bit of time getting that back into shape.

After finally getting everything back together.... it started on full choke like a dream and idled smooth as silk, then when I gave it some throttle it bogged down real bad and died. I set it on half choke and it did the same only worse.

My first thought is to go back to a 110 stock main jet and leave the needle up. I ran out of time to get back into the carb so it'll have to wait till tomorrow or monday night.

Any thots?

I like the way the bike is looking so far... I plan on cutting off the rear blinker mounts and taking off all the tabs and brackets of the frame that are not being used anymore... I was able to get all the wiring tucked up under the seat, but I plan on cleaning up the battery area even more.

Any comments are welcome....
Oh, and my rearsets aren't done yet...

Thanks
