Removing Decals

Just bought an 80 KZ1000 LTD and decals are worn. Can anyone tell me how to remove the original tank, side cover, and tail fin decals without damaging the paint? Bought some new decals also, what is the best way to apply them and get it right?

As far as removing decals, heating them with a blow dryer, as you carefully peal at the edge, usually makes them come off very easy.

I got some decals recently that came with these instructions:
First make sure the area is clean.
Add 3 drops of dish detergent to one quart of water.
Spray a liberal amount of the water solutuion on the surface of the Tank/etc.
Peel the backing off the decal, and apply the same water solution to the backside of the decal.
Apply the decal to the Tank/etc. and move into desired position (I had to be good on placement as mine did not want to move).
Using a firm but soft squeege (Not metal, as this would cratch decal. I used a Library card which was more flexable than a credit card), work the excess water out from under the decal starting from the center and working to the edge.

Haordryer should work fine. I used a heat gun for the badges on my car. Just have ot be careful abuot how much heat you throw on there. Also, with my cars badges a piece of fishing line helped take them of clean. Just heated it up, got an edge up, slid the fishing line in behind and pulled it through the hot glue. Then use a little Goo-Gone to wipe away the extra residue. WD-40 seems to work quite well too. Just wash it all off with soap and water after.

3M makes a rubber wheel that goes on a dril, that grips the decal and takes it off.....then use a solvent to wipe the glue off

I don't think these will come off that easy... At least not without damage to the paint. As some of these are clear coated.

ok, i was wrong.....i went out to my dads shop to check, and his is made by ultra-pro which i believe is a napa UAP product. 3M might make one however, but i know for sure ultra-pro does

I found some at a auto parts store for $10 in the paint section.
