You can shave it yourself. I wouldnt call mine a Corbin look, but it definately looks better than the ironing board that it used to be.

I wish I had progress pics, but you can see the difference if you click the pic of my blue bike below.

I used an electric carving knife to get the basic shape I wanted, then a small beltsander to finish it off, and several test sits in between

very nice. i kinda wanted to make it myself anyway just didn't think of the carving knife. did you use the stock foam or did you get something firmer?

Im a cheapskate, I used the stock foam and I still reused the original cover, that will change someday though.

I think I took about 2 1/2" out of the drivers part, and 1 1/2 out of the passenger. I also moved my part back about 3 inches. The first time my wife road on back, she asked if I could get a sissy bar. I wasnt going to put a big huge one on, so I made that little pad with junk from the garage, it works, thats all that can be said about it though.

Yea-
Mine was made the same way, by cutting down the origional foam. I had it recovered by a local Aircraft upholstry shop. They did a great job and it only cost me $40.

Mine is also a stock seat cut down and recovered, although I bought it that way on eaby.

Henry, can you see behind you with those bar end mirrors? I had only a left one on for a few rides, and found it difficult to see anything. Plus not having a right side one scared me a bit in traffic. I bought a pair to mount on the fairing at a salvage shop.

I re-covered mine, never even shaved it, I just cut out some pleather and sewed it up, along with re-covering the old strap across the middle. If I can do it, you can. Looks good too. I'll have some pics up soon, as I'm re-painting her next week and doing a lot of cosmetic do-dads before May starts.

I'll throw in my 2c. Probably not a huge surprise, but I think all aftermarket seats look hideous. I bought a new Concours and the seat stunk because it sloped forward. The dealer said "Get a Mike Corbin seat". I'd quit riding before I'd set one of them ugly things on any of my bikes.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

rstnick-
The bar end mirrors are practically useless, but I have to have mirrors (for the cops). They tell me if there are headlights behind me, but vibrate badly. The little 1 inch convex mirrors give me more visibility than the larger ones.
