ding ding ding

I have a ding in my front fender.... any tricks to get rid of it?

no, no picuture's yet. it's about the size of a quarter, on my front fender. I read somewhere on this page that I have to sand the opposite side and use a piece of wood to pound it out with a hammer. Is there any hope for me?

it depends on what part of fender its in,thats why a picture would help.if its a chrome fender i wouldnt sand on it .:whistle:

maybe a hammer and a thick cylindrical pipe for a body tool if you dont have body tools.

i used it like this, then filled in what I couldnt get right.

or look in the phone book for paitless dent removal.

a couple dings cant cost you much.

pounding dents out of chrome is not easy ! Sure you can get it out.. but the problem is that it'll have ripples, waves, etc.. from hammer blows or what you used for a dolly..

I think what you would want to do is push it out. Find a dolly that has a matching contour of the fender, with this dolly start from the side of the dent and slide it foward over the dent repeatly.. it'll be hard with the metal you are working with. You might have to bump the top of the dent with the dolly to get started.. be careful if the dolly has a sharp edge, it could leave a mark. If you must make a blow on the dent, use something w/o a sharp edge, use a towl/rag on top of the dent.
