18" front mag wheel for KZ650?

I've read that some Z1R and Police models had 18" front mags that are a direct fit on a KZ650. Is that orrect? if so what years/models?

The ONLY direct replacement mag wheel in 18" would be the 1978 Z1R the rest are 19". The police wheel you require different discs for. The Z1R uses the standard four bolt disc hub. The police wheel already uses the more modern flat disc with the large hubless opening. If you are interested I do have a police wheel for $100. I never did get the chance to buy the discs though. I wanted to put it on my GPz1100 but decided to go with a different wheel instead. I paid $125 for it about six months ago and just want to get rid of it. I have already had the old dry rotted tire removed that was on it.

Thanks for the information. At this point, I'm just gathering information, I'm not ready to buy yet. Honestly, I'd prefer to go with the direct replacement when I do buy, so i can reuse the new pads and resurfaced rotors I already have.

Good luck on finding a 78 Z1R wheel. I've been looking for the last two years and when you do find them the're $350 or more. I have only found two in the last two years and at those high prices.

By the way, the 81 KH110C2, 80 KZ250-G1, 79 250-A1, 80 250-A2, 81 250-A3, 81 250-J1, 85 KZ305-C2 79 400-G1, 80 400-G2, 81 400-G3, 80 440-C1, 81 440-C2, all also had disc brake seven spoke 18" mags that would fit your bike with the four bolt disc hub pattern.

By the way, what year and model KZ650 do you have??

I'll be swapping on a '78 Z1R front wheel this Winter, so I'll let you know how it goes.
Mark Wing has a Police wheel, 18", on his 650, but he has a completely different front end on.
USD forks from a ZX I believe.

It's a '79 KZ650 B3, but it has dual front discs.

And all of those models have the same width front wheel as mine does?

What about the rim width? And will they work with dual discs?

There are two rim widths 2.15 and 1.85 They will take the same tires. I am not sure which are dual disc and which are single only. You would have to do some research. There are also two axle sizes that Kawasaki uses. You might have to change the bearings or get a different axle.

What did you do for a rear drum mag wheel? did you convert to disc?
