Finished Tank

Here is the finished product on my 82 KZ 440 LTD. I wish I had before pictures for this repaint. The tank was badly pitted on the exterior and had two large dents. A little filler, a lot of elbow grease and Three cans of Duplicolor high temp later this is the result. Please ignore the background junk in my garage.

Highest marks! You said DupliColor Hi Temp.....you use the stuff with ceramic?? I ask 'cause I tried using the "Hi Temp Clear w/ Ceramic", and it SUCKED!!!!! Stuff wouldnt sand at ALL....just peeled off in itty-bitty sheets and pieces.
Yours looks nice and smooth and shiney.....just like they S'posed to be! Very nice...

Yeah I used the stuff with the ceramic additive. I had no problems with it sanding. Let it cure 24 hours first then wet sanded with 800 and 1200 and 2000 grit. The last two coats I only used the 1200 and the 2000. Polished that out with 3m compound and then more coats of MacGuires wax than I can even count. I haven't had it out in the sunshine yet but I am looking forward to it. unfortunately having it on the bike only makes it more obvious that I need to polish or paint the engine block and head and polish up some chrome. Need one good season of riding though before I tear into it again.
