How to use buffing compound stick

How do you get the compound out of the tube? I bought the ryobi brand and it looked like a cardboard tube with a wax about an inch inside the tube. How do I get that to stick out so I can apply it on the buffing wheel?

Usually I buy it in 2 lb bars, but I have a couple of tubes (not Ryobi though) and the stick just falls out of the tube when I remove the cap.

Maybe you can pop off the other end of the tube and push it out?

Yes...cut and peel the cardboard outer,to expose the polishing stick inside.

Where are you guys getting your supplies? I have found one place to get compound but what do you use to buff with...handheld wheel, electric buffer, what? Where are you getting your supplies?

a decent sized bench grinder with a buffing wheel on it works fine for smaller parts a fullsize diegrinder with some cones works good for larger parts like swingarms and frames.if you do a lot of polishing you can pickup large sticks of compound from plating shops!:whistle: goodluck,happy polishing!

3000 rpm 3/8" drill, Dremel, 7" hand grinder, and a dual wheel 1 1/2 hp pedestal buffing machine (variable speed).

I got my supplies from Tarheel supplies. They have a Shaft, pulleys, and pillar bearings for around ten bucks. You can build your own stationary buffer. Mine works great. Roy
