Keys locked under seat.

I would go with the keycode and have a new one cut, although you may have to wait a while for it. This way there's no damage to the bike. Another idea would be to pick the lock...it's not that difficult with the right tools. Wish I was there to help!

OnkelB actually it was a good thought, if I were in Becker's situation I'd be trying every key I could lay my hands on. The odds are against it however. I can only imagine the cursing I'd be doing in that situation. I mislaid my keyring that had keys to 3 of my bikes on it last fall and spent most of a morning hunting for them. Now whenever I get a new bike one of the first things I do is write down the key number on the back of a business card that I keep in my wallet. I really should have duplicates made of all my bike keys but so far I haven't gotten around to it.

I don't know about bikes, but once I walked up to a car, I thought was mine, and opened the door w/my key. It wasn't until I got in the car that I realized it wasn't mine. It's always worth a shot, to try a key from another bike.

It's a long shot...But, I wonder if you could take the rear wheel off and pull the inner plastic fender from the bottom out of the tabs and reach up in there from behind.

NOTE: The inner fender is still attached at the top by 2 bolts.

just pay a locksmith to pic the lock. it not like its a hight security lock. i think any locksmith (or crimanal(jk) could do it. i know in my town a company cllaed parrie bro's with come and get into any lock and not damage it.

Did you try bountyhunters idea of pulling the tank off? I think it would work....

Also have you tried simply forcing the seat open? Do at your own risk, but on all the parts bikes I have without key I just jerk up on the seat and it flops right open doing no damage. Of course I don't care if there's damage so if you do care the lock may be broken. Lock isn't going to be used on an armored car, they are low security items to say the least. As an old friend of mine said years ago, "don't get mad, just force it".

For me to get them out i used a pair of old sizzers put it into the keyhole and turned. it might work for you.

Well I tried to pick the lock after watching a video about picking locks on youtube. The problem is that these locks have pins on both sides instead of just one making it way harder to get the pins to line up. I also tried the keys from the other bike but no such luck. It was a good idea though, I read in a car magazine somewhere that the dodge caravan had like 1345 different keys so technically u would have a 1 in 1345 chance. I also live 15 miles from the nearest small town and 90 from the nearest big town so trying to get a locksmith to drive out hear would be expensive. I tried getting into the seat compartment through the fender with no luck and I already had the tank off (thats why i need to open the seat to put it back on) and I can't get in the front. So I just drilled the lock out. I know, I know not real bright once again but i got impatient and wanted to get my keys back. from now on however all of my bikes are getting spare keys that are going to be kept somewhere safe!!

Hey, look at the bright side. At least you didn't remember the keys were in your pocket just as you finished drilling the lock. :lol:

So Caravan has 1300 different keys. Just slightly more than Kawasaki. Out of my current lineup, 3 of them I can interchange keys even though the number on the key is not the same.
