This is a simple one, I want to change my handle bars and keep the same controls. So how do I measure for new bars? Diameter or circumference? I have an 82 kz750. I think they are 7/8" (diameter). Would any 7/8" bar work? Is this the right track. Wow, thanks for putting up with the newby fellas :S

traded my classic Kz's for a 2001 Kz1200r

Hey - a question I can answer. ;)

Most (almost all) "metric" bikes have 7/8" handlebars. When they say "American" or "Harley" bars, they almost always mean 1". B)

Yes any 7/8" bar should work, but depending on what you are putting on or taking off your cables and wires may become problems
